Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Swings onto PC with Enhanced Features

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on PC tomorrow, January 30, 2025, bringing with it a host of enhanced features tailored for PC gamers. Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel and optimized for PC by Nixxes Software, this installment allows players to step into the roles of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face formidable adversaries like Venom and Kraven the Hunter.

Advanced Ray-Tracing Capabilities

The PC version introduces a variety of ray-tracing options, enabling players to fine-tune performance and visual fidelity across diverse hardware setups. Ray-traced reflections are prominently featured, especially noticeable as players swing past the city's numerous glass surfaces. Additional options include ray-traced interiors, shadows, and ambient occlusion, all contributing to a more immersive and realistic environment.

For those with high-performance systems, an increased ray-tracing geometry detail setting is available. This feature utilizes higher quality meshes for ray-tracing, resulting in more detailed and realistic reflections. Players can also adjust the ray-tracing object range to determine the distance at which objects are considered for ray-tracing. Notably, the game incorporates NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction, enhancing ray-tracing quality on supported hardware.

Support for Ultra-Wide Displays and Performance-Enhancing Technologies

Players with ultra-wide monitors will appreciate full support for aspect ratios such as 21:9, 32:9, and even 48:9 for triple monitor setups. The development team has ensured that all cinematics are adapted for aspect ratios up to 32:9, providing a seamless viewing experience.

The game also supports various performance-enhancing technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1 upscaling and frame generation, as well as Intel XeSS upscaling. These options allow players to optimize their gaming experience based on their hardware capabilities.

System Requirements and Editions

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, including options without ray-tracing, to cater to both high-end and prior generation hardware. Detailed specifications for various graphics presets have been provided to assist players in optimizing their setup.

Two editions will be available at launch:

  • Standard Edition: Includes the complete game and all updates since the PS5 launch, such as 12 new suits, New Game+, Ultimate Levels, new Symbiote Suit Styles, time of day options, post-game achievements, Action Figure Mode in Photo Mode, and accessibility features like screen reader and audio descriptions.
  • Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE): Offers everything in the Standard Edition plus five exclusive suits each for Peter Parker and Miles Morales, early unlocks for specific suits and gadgets, additional skill points, and extra Photo Mode items.

Players who purchase the game will also receive PC Purchase Perks, including early unlocks for certain suits, gadgets, and additional skill points. Connecting to a PlayStation Network account, which is optional, provides further benefits like trophies and friend management.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 aims to deliver an optimized and immersive experience for PC players, leveraging advanced graphical features and broad hardware support to bring Marvel's New York to life.
